SERMON 1: WHO WE ARE IN CHRIST

Key Passage: 2 Corinthians 5:17 (ESV)

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.”

Supporting Scriptures:

  • John 1:12 – “But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.”
  • Galatians 2:20 – “I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”
  • Romans 8:16-17 – “The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him.”

Main Points:

  1. We Are Made New – This transformation is complete and radical. We are not improved versions of our old selves—we are new creations with new hearts, new desires, and a new direction.
  2. We Are Children of God – We have been adopted into God’s family. Our identity is rooted not in our past, our mistakes, or even our achievements, but in our relationship with our Heavenly Father.
  3. We Are United With Christ – Our old self died with Christ, and now we live through Him. His life becomes the source of ours.
  4. We Are Heirs With Christ – Everything that belongs to Jesus is now shared with us. We are not just saved—we are co-heirs of God’s Kingdom.

Questions for Reflection:

  • Have I truly embraced my new identity in Christ?
  • What old ways or beliefs do I need to leave behind?
  • How does being a child of God reshape the way I see myself?

SERMON 2: WHERE WE ARE NOW

Key Passage: Colossians 1:13 (ESV)

“He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son.”

Supporting Scriptures:

  • Ephesians 2:6 – “And raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.”
  • Philippians 3:20 – “But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it, we await a Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ.”
  • 1 Peter 2:9 – “But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvellous light.”

Main Points:

  1. Transferred from Darkness to Light – This isn’t just a change in behaviour; it’s a change in kingdom. We no longer live under the power of sin and death.
  2. Seated in Heavenly Places – Spiritually, we share in Christ’s victory and authority, even now.
  3. Citizens of Heaven – Our ultimate allegiance is no longer to earthly systems or identities.
  4. Part of a Holy Nation – We belong to God’s people, with a purpose to declare His glory.

Questions for Reflection:

  • Am I living like someone who has been transferred to God’s Kingdom?
  • What does it mean to live as a citizen of heaven in my everyday life?
  • How can I better proclaim the excellencies of God?

SERMON 3: WHEN IT HAPPENED

Key Passage: John 3:3-6 (ESV)

“Jesus answered him, ‘Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.’ Nicodemus said to him, ‘How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?’ Jesus answered, ‘Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.’”

  • Ephesians 1:13 – “In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit.”
  • Romans 10:9-10 – “Because if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.”

  1. It Happens at Belief – The moment we believe and confess Christ, we are reborn.
  2. It’s a Spiritual Rebirth – Not physical, not metaphorical—it’s real, and it changes our eternal destiny.
  3. God Initiates It – This isn’t something we earn or manufacture. It’s God’s grace.

Questions for Reflection:

  • Do I remember the moment I believed and was born again?
  • How has my life changed since then?
  • Am I helping others recognise their need for this new birth?

SERMON 4: HOW IT HAPPENED

Key Passage: Titus 3:4-6 (ESV)

“But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Saviour appeared, he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Saviour.”

  • Ephesians 2:8-9 – “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.”
  • John 1:13 – “Who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.”
  • James 1:18 – “Of his own will he brought us forth by the word of truth, that we should be a kind of first fruits of his creatures.”

Main Points:

  1. It’s the Mercy of God – Salvation is never earned. It’s entirely a gift.

  3. Faith is the Door – We receive this new life by faith, not effort.

SERMON 5: WHAT WE ARE GIVEN

Key Passage: 1 Peter 1:3-4 (ESV)

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you.”

  • Romans 5:1-5 – “Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through him, we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God… hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.”
  • John 10:28 – “I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand.”
